Virginia equestrian and author Kimberly Campbell debuts the first book in her Triple Crown trilogy at a release party hosted by publisher Mascot Books on March 7 in Middleburg.
“The Calm Before The Storm” follows the struggles of Charlie Jenkins and Genuine Storm, as together they strive to beat the odds and achieve their dreams. The story about perseverance, recovery and redemption is set against a rich background of horse racing and the Kentucky Derby.
“The characters throughout “The Calm Before The Storm” are believable and heartwarming,” said Sue Kenney, historian at the Thoroughbred breeding Sagamore Farm. “Kim has done an excellent job in weaving history and facts about the Derby throughout the book.”
Campbell and her publisher Mascot Books will host the book release party at Fox Chase Farm in Middleburg from 6 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. Guests can purchase a signed copy of the book at the event, prior to its availability anywhere else. Fox Chase Farm is located at 23323 Foxchase Farm Lane.
A lifelong equestrian and horse-racing enthusiast, Campbell wrote “The Calm Before The Storm” both as an entertaining story for her readers and as a way to educate fellow horse lovers about the Thoroughbred racing industry.
