Massies Mill (Fleetwood) Benefit Trail Ride April 26-28, 2013
Spring is on its way! It will soon be time for Fleetwood Community Center’s spring 2013 trail ride! We invite you to join us for a weekend of great riding and good food in the mountains of central VA. Our ride offers beautiful views and a variety of terrain, including apple orchards, pastures, woodlands and limited gravel road. All trails are marked and are self-guided. The trails vary in difficulty and may be rocky at times, so your horses should be trail-conditioned and well shod all around. No horses under 4 years of age, and horses over the age of 24 will need a vet certificate of fitness.
Fees: $75 – Adult riders
$35 – Riders under 18 and non-riders
Riders under the age of 13 must ride with an adult.
Fee must accompany registration form. First 150 registrations accepted. The ride will go on as scheduled, RAIN OR SHINE. There will be NO weather-related refunds given unless the ride is cancelled due to a disaster, natural or otherwise. Credit will only be given in instances of personal emergency. Please call. If you have a credit from a previous ride, please send in your registration form and mark ‘credit’ for amount paid.
The registration fee includes 3 days and 2 nights of camping on a level, grassy field alongside the Tye River. Five meals, including a hot lunch on the trail on Saturday, are also included. Water is available for horses, and restrooms and hot showers are located inside the building.
Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning at Fleetwood Community Center. Current negative Coggins papers MUST be presented at check-in. PLEASE BRING AN EXTRA COPY OF YOUR COGGINS FOR US TO KEEP. Ample parking is available, but horse enclosures are restricted to 10’ x 12’ per horse, next to your trailer.
Ride as you wish on Friday. Guest riders will leave the grounds between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. All riders please leave camp by 10:00 a.m. Riders are checked in at lunch on Saturday. We offer you a ‘long’ ride (app. 25 miles) and a ‘short’ ride (app. 15 miles) on Saturday, and a different short ride (12 – 15 miles) on Sunday.
A vet will be on call and a farrier will be on the premises for the weekend. A professional photographer will also be available.
