First case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in a Virginia horse reported for 2016

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) has confirmed the first case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in a Virginia horse this year. The horse, from Suffolk, was a Saddlebred mare. She exhibited symptoms on June 22 and was euthanized June 23.

Upcoming Fundraising events for the TB Retirement Foundation at Montpelier

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) at Montpelier has two new activities planned as fundraisers in July and September. The organization is a rescue for the many unwanted and neglected off track Thoroughbreds that can no longer have a racing career and are too damaged to enjoy a second career off the track.
