Tom Navarro’s River Chase Farm: New Home of Sue Buscher and the George Mason Equestrian Team

In late June, Sue Buscher, head coach of the George Mason Equestrian Team loaded up her horses and made the move from Timely Manor Stables in Gainesville to River Chase Farm in Aldie. Sue has been coaching for over twenty years and is excited to take advantage of River Chase’s outstanding facilities including its lighted all-weather outdoor ring and spacious indoor arena.

Battlefield Equestrian Society Fall Judged Pleasure Ride Sept. 24, 2017

2nd Farm in King William Co., VA with unrelated case of Equine Herpesvirus-1

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ (VDACS) has confirmed a diagnosis of Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) on a second farm in Virginia. On August 15 the department announced an unrelated finding of EHV-1 on a farm in Culpeper County. That farm continues to be under quarantine.

Update on the case of Equine Herpesvirus-1 in Culpeper VA

On August 15, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) reported that its Animal Health Laboratory in Warrenton confirmed a diagnosis of Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) on two horses from Culpeper County. One horse is undergoing supportive therapy at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) in Leesburg and the other was euthanized.

2 Culpeper VA horses test positive for Equine Herpesvirus-1

According to the VA Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, on Aug. 11, a horse exhibiting neurologic signs was transported to the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg from Culpeper. The horse was immediately isolated from the hospital population and has not come into contact with any other patients.

Virginia horse tests positive for West Nile Virus – first case since 2015 in VA

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS)  announced on July 10, 2017 the state’s first positive case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a horse in 2017. It is the first case since August 2015 in Virginia. The horse, a ten-year-old Saddlebred gelding, was from Wythe County and died as a result of the disease.
