Dressage at Devon Horse Show Receives USEF Heritage Competition Status

The Dressage at Devon Horse Show has been honored with the United States Equestrian Federation’s (USEF) designation as a USEF Heritage Competition. Thoroughbreds Transition From Starting Gate to In Gate With Added Money

The Thoroughbred Celebration Horse Shows (TCHS), presented by the Virginia Horse Center Foundation, is pleased to announce added prize money for 2013.  With generous support from TAKE2 Second Career Thoroughbreds Program, After The Finish Line (ATFL) and The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.), more than $12,000 in prize money will be awarded during the TCHS shows on March 15-17, June 7-9, and October 25-27, 2013 in Lexington, Virginia.

VA Horse Council and VQHA Trail Ride at Ft. Pocahontas on March 22-24, 2013

The Virginia Horse Council and the VQHA will be co-hosting another trail at Fort Pocahontas in Charles City County on March 22-24, 2013.

Fort Pocahontas at Wilson’s Wharf is located next to Sherwood Forest Plantation and on the Route 5 corridor (37 miles east of Richmond)

Come for the day on either Saturday or Sunday, or primitive camp the whole weekend with most meals provided. The camp area is within walking distance to the James River where you can enjoy gorgeous river views and peaceful sunsets on foot or from horseback.

In addition to the trail ride there will be an AQHA trail challenge that is open to all breeds.

Great American Trail Horse Sale and Competitions – April 5-6, 2013

One of the most popular activities to do with a horse is trail riding.  The Great American Trail Horse Sale and Competitions offers a venue for trail riding enthusiasts and folks looking for a good family horse.  There will be horses, mules and ponies of all breeds, and prices for all budgets.  The sale is held on April 5 & 6, at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Va.  This is the 12th year of this unique horse auction that draws spectators, buyers and consignors from all around the country.

The event starts off on Friday, April 5th, at 11:00 am, with trainer and clinician Mary Miller Jordan.  Mary and her mustang “Silver Lining” are the winners of the 2012 Reserve Champion of the Supreme Extreme Mustang Makeover, Legends Division.  She and her mustang “Lindsay’s Faith” also won ACTHA’s 2011 “America’s Favorite Trail Horse”.   Mary will give a clinic and also perform on her mustangs under saddle and at liberty.  All clinics and admissions are free.
