The Equestrian Club of Bridgewater College will host the 12th annual “Horses’ Christmas” at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center in Weyers Cave, on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m.

The BCEC is located off of U.S. 11 on Burketown Road, between Weyers Cave and Mt. VA State Fair opens with “Salute to Secretariat” Day on Friday, Sept. 27

The  “Salute to Secretariat’ Day at the Virginia State Fair is Friday Sept. 27, beginning at 10 am when the Fair opens.   It will take place on the north side of the Fairgrounds in the “Harvest Landing” section.  This is where the original yearling and stallion barns built in the 1930s are located.  Two descendants of Secretariat:  Covert Action, a grandson, and Multiple Choice, a great-grandson, will be on display near the barns.  They are […]

The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), one of the world’s most prestigious equestrian events, is honored to announce Elizabeth Kruse of McLean, Va., as Youth Ambassador of the 2013 show.

RRTP Seeks 26 Trainers for Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium

Retired Racehorse Training Project, an organization dedicated to increasing demand for Thoroughbreds off the track, is celebrating Derby weekend by accepting applications from trainers for its Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium.

The Makeover will feature twenty-six trainers who select and train twenty-six Thoroughbred ex-racehorses throughout the summer in preparation for a public appearance at the RRTP Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium on October 5 and 6 at Pimlico Racecourse.
