Averett University’s Intercollegiate Dressage Assoc. (IDA) team shone on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at St. Andrews University, in Laurinburg, NC at the last competition of the regular season. The team went into the weekend with a 4 point lead over the 2nd place team, St. Andrews, and held them off to secure 1st place in the region. Averett finished 1st and 3rd overall, thanks to the following rides:

At First Level:
Senior Shannon Stone placed 4th
Senior Jessie Hayes placed 3rd

At Upper Training:
Senior Lindsey Baker placed 1st
Freshman Amanda Arnold placed 2nd

At Lower Training:
Senior Catherine Doane placed 1st
Senior Nicki Conradt-Eberlin placed 4th

At Intro:
Sophomore Kathleen Nettnin placed 2nd
Sophomore Sydney Owen placed 7th

Lindsey Baker was the Reserve High Point Rider of the day with a score of 70.8%. Catherine Doane was the High Point Rider with a score of 71.666%.

Thanks to their year-long successes, Averett IDA will be sending a team of riders to represent the University at Nationals. Shannon Stone, Amanda Arnold, and Catherine Doane all finished as Region Champions for their respective divisions and will represent Averett as individual riders at Nationals.

Averett University is hosting the IDA National Championships at the Old Dominion Agriculture Complex in Chatham, VA April 12-13, 2014.
